EKG Technician
The EKG Tech will perform electrocardiograms, Holter Monitors, arterial dopplers, exercise stress tests and related cardiology procedures. Additionally requiring, typing transcription (dictaphone and written), filing, charting and other assigned duties.
Performs Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitoring, Stress Tests, Signal Averaging EKG’s, Event monitoring procedures, and phlebotomy.
Full time EKG Technicians must take the phlebotomy training in house (2-3 weeks) and pass competency.
Recognizes abnormal EKG reading and reports to proper person.
Prepares EKG, Holter Monitor and stress test reports utilizing the dictaphone and typing those reports. Also copies and files reports in departmental files and patient charts.
Prepares cardiovascular reports, by transcribing doctors interpretations, and filing on proper chart.
Participates in in-service and continuing education and assists with Quality Assurance Surveys.
Maintains EKG equipment and practices electrical safety.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Formal Education: ****
High school diploma.
Preferred: One year experience and/or certificate EKG course at Career College or equivalent
Experience:
Preferred: One year required unless the above-mentioned course has been taken.
Skills and abilities :
Preferably Certified Electrocardiology Tech or Cardiovascular Tech. Must possess skills to provide diagnostic testing to newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
