Medical Assistant Certified (Neurosurgery)

##### **Summary** ##### A Medical Assistant (MA) under the direct supervision of a physician or Advance Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies and procedures. ##### **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** ##### These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis by Medical Assistance. Any other duties as needed to drive to the vision fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the organization. * ##### Responsible for rooming patients and prepare them for examination * ##### Takes patients vital signs which include blood pressure, height, weight and documents in EMR * ##### Updates patient medical record including medications, allergies, past medical & surgical history * ##### Preps procedure room for minor procedure and assist with those procedures as needed. * ##### Prepares exam rooms for provider dependent on appointment type. * ##### Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily. * ##### Assist physician and Acute Care Providers with patient examinations. * ##### Draws blood, perform EKG, SWAB test and any additional clinical test within clinic. * ##### Manages Physician orders by submitting to appropriate departments such as imagining, labs, scheduling surgeries, of referral to specialist. Confirm all orders are completed and that results have been returned. * ##### Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed. * ##### Able to check in patients, register patients, verify insurance, scan documents in patient charts, answer phones, return phone calls, and schedule appointments. * ##### Presents strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills ##### **Qualifications** ##### To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. ##### Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ##### **Education and Experience** ##### **Minimum Required Education:** Certified Medical Assistant ##### **Preferred Education:** N/A ##### **Experience:** One year of Medical Training Preferred but not required ##### **Certificates, Licenses, Registrations** ##### Medical Assistant Certification required. ##### American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of start in position.
