Summer Externship

**Summary** The Summer Extern & Scholarship Program will work in areas across the organization to develop life skills and learn about various types of healthcare careers in the areas of administrative, support, clinical support, and clinical nursing units. The summer extern will be trained by and assigned to department mentor. _**Note:** This position is for those who have applied, interviewed, and have been selected to participate in our Summer Extern program. Only selected candidates may apply to this position. All others will not be considered, but we strongly encourage you to apply for any other openings we have._ **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis. Any other duties as needed to drive to the vision fulfill the mission and abide by the values of the organization. * Eager to learn and work with various departments with Chesapeake Regional Healthcare * Fulfill tasks set out by supervisor of assignment department * Ability to multitask * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Adhere to the FOCUSED Standards of Behavior and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare * Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers * Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties * Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments * Work as a team to continuously improve work quality * Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services * Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care **Education and Experience** Minimum Required Education: Current high school student (must be a rising or graduating senior) **Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:** N/A
