Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Bolivar, MO is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our staff at the Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center. CMH is made up of 34 primary and specialty clinics, 6 Long-Term Care facilities and 1 residential care facility. About the Department: The Laboratory Services Department at CMH provides accurate and timely testing essential for diagnosing and treating both inpatient and outpatient conditions.

A typical day will include: Collecting and processing blood samples for the laboratory, acting as department receptionist, and filing and maintaining records.

Collects specimens utilizing correct equipment and within specified timeframes
Logs, prepares, and sends specimens to reference laboratory as indicated
Calls, faxes, and / or sends test results to physicians as needed
Greets and directs incoming patients to appropriate areas, answers incoming calls, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel
Cleans equipment and work areas and stocks supplies

Job Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience: One or more years of experience performing phlebotomy duties is preferred
Skills: Organization, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, customer service 
Licensure/Certification: Phlebotomy certification is preferred
Physical: Standing for the majority of the work day

The position is: Part-time days between 8am-4:30pm; 48 hours every 2 weeks
