Job Summary The Payroll Accountant must have exceptional analytical skills, the ability to solve complex problems independently, and the ability to identify areas for continual improvement in the payroll process. The Payroll Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager. The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and process payroll in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring the accuracy of paychecks, ensuring the accuracy of quarterly IRS 941 and State filings, annual W2#s, and all other payroll related reports. Additional responsibilities and duties of the payroll accountant position include preparation of general ledger journal entries, detailed account analysis and reconciliations, and various other general accounting projects. # Job Requirements Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to: Accounting Theory; Computerized Accounting Systems; Strong system/spreadsheet proficiency (Microsoft Excel required); Analytical Skills; Clear and efficient communication Skills; Detail oriented; Process large volumes of work independently; Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills; Work to specific time deadlines and constraints # License/Certification Payroll Certification Preferred/Desired # Education and/or Experience Associate degree in accounting or equivalent education; Two years previous experience in a payroll position # Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance Position involves standing, walking, stooping, and occasional carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (up to 20 pounds). May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers; and hand and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment.
