JOB SUMMARY AND SPECIFICATIONS JOB SUMMARY The Radiation Therapist administers the radiation throughout the treatment process and is a vital member of the radiation oncology team.# Radiation therapists are the primary liaisons between patients and other members of the radiation oncology team as well as other healthcare providers.# The Therapist is involved in the initial treatment planning, simulation, setup and treatment of the patient.# The therapist is also actively involved in other special programs such as brachytherapy, stereotactic, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Professional # Technical Skills The therapist will have at least two years experience as a radiation therapist. Education The radiation therapist will have graduated from an accredited school with a certificate, associate#s or bachelor#s degree in radiation therapy. License(s) or Certification(s) The radiation therapist will be certified by the ARRT or be eligible. The radiation therapist will comply with state licensure. The radiation therapist will be certified in CPR. Other Skills or Requirements Ability to perform all routine procedures with stationary equipment and portable equipment. Knowledge of sterile techniques used in invasive procedures. Skilled to care for certain age-related patient groups (incumbents will be skilled in the care of the following patient groups): All age groups
