Summary:
The Security Major is the coordinator for all Security shifts on an assigned campus. Works directly with the Shift Captains and Lieutenants on each shift to minimize overtime while maintaining a balanced schedule. Also works with other departments to assist in special events and projects, determining staffing requirements, and logistical support needs. Supervises special projects and functions of the Security Department, conducts or arranges yearly Security and Safety inspections. Conducts special investigations as assigned. Participates in leadership of overall Baptist Health environment of care management programs.
The Armed Security Major/Manager will have complete oversight and supervision over the armed security officers, Lieutenant and Captain and will respond, when notified, to all crimes or acts of violence, including active shooting incidents, toward the patient, guest and staff and will coordinate with law enforcement during those occurrences. The Armed Security Major will take control of an active scene, on their arrival, of any acts violence towards patients, guests and staff involving the use of a firearm until they are relieved or the conclusion of the incident.
Other information:
1\. Be at least 21 years of age;
2\. High school graduate or GED preferred;
3\. Able to pass a criminal background performed by the Arkansas State Police
4\. Be able to pass a psychological exam
5\. Be able to pass a department approved physical fitness assessment
6\. Be interviewed by a panel 7. Must have a current Arkansas Driver's license (military may have a license from their home state) and pass a driver's license check in accordance with the Baptist Health Insurance guidelines;
8\. Able to meet the state qualifications to obtain and maintain a security credential;
9\. Must not use any nicotine or tobacco products in any form while on Baptist Health property;
10\. Consistantly complete required training to include state mandated training, defensive tactics, MOAB, Oleorsin Capsicum, MRI safety, restraints, PPE, CPR, and signed off on all officer posts for the campus assiged."
11\. Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of security post orders and policies as well as BH rules, regulations, and procedures;
12\. Must have at least two years supervisory experience in Law Enforcement or Security related occupations.
13\. Armed Security Majors must pass the 40 hrs required firearms training (mandated (16 hrs) firearms training plus another 24 hrs of Baptist Health required firearm training) to include weapons retention; 14. Armed Security Majors must attend 40 hrs annually of required firearms training
15\. Armed Security Majors must pass a yearly firearm qualification with an 80% minimum score.
