Histotechnologist

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking a Certified Histotechnologist for our Pathology Department in Bolivar, Missouri. CMH is made up of 34 primary and specialty clinics, 6 Long-Term Care facilities and 1 residential care facility. Offering acute care, emergency services, ambulatory care, pharmacies, walk-in clinics, surgeries, addiction recovery, therapies and more, CMH has its community covered!

About the department: The Pathology Department at CMH performs histology/pathology necessary for diagnosis and treatment of patients in an accurate and timely manner.

A typical day will include: Processing tissues, embedding, cutting, and preparing tissue sections for H and E, special, and immunohistological staining.

Performs all steps in the preparation of tissue for diagnosis by the pathologist
Conducts quality control checks and documents results; recognizes and rejects results based on pre-determined ranges of acceptability
Basic troubleshooting of stain issues to be resolved prior to releasing slides to pathologist.
Maintains instruments and performs basic troubleshooting; documents and reports needs according to policy and procedure 
Operates laboratory information systems, personal computers and instrument-related computer software.
Assists the pathologist in preparation of frozen sections

Job Requirements:

Education: Associate's (HT) or Bachelor's (HLT) degree
Experience: Willing to train the right person; one year as a HTL or HT preferred
Skills: Manual dexterity, attention to detail, organization, time management
Licensure/Certification: Histotechnologist (HTL) ASCP certified or Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certified preferred
Physical: Prolonged periods of standing or sitting

The position is: Part-time, 7am-11am, Monday - Friday.
