At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range for this position is $20.00 – $29.71, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
Eligible employees may also participate in comprehensive benefits, including health coverage, paid time off, and wage increase programs, depending on position type (full-time, part-time, or per diem) and applicable eligibility criteria.
Position Summary: Interpreter, Interpreter Services, Part-time 24-hour Days 8 am to 4:30 pm, Methuen campus
As the
Interpreter
, you will serve as a medical interpreter for patients and staff and support the operations of the department in consecutive, simultaneous or sight translation mode. Relays medical information between speakers of two different languages in compliance with all office and hospital policies and procedures, particularly relating to patient confidentiality and informed consent, passing performance of competencies listed in the IMIA Standards of Practice, and the Code of Ethics. Understands and abides by all published Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics for Medical Interpreters.
Minimum Qualifications:
Fluency in English and one or more foreign languages, both oral and written.
High level of customer service and a positive approach.
Knowledge of computer systems.
Proof of medical interpreter training - minimum of 40 hours. Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
1 year of experience in a healthcare setting as a medical interpreter with strong medical vocabulary preferred.
National Board Certification for spoken language interpreters, see www.certifiedmedicalinterpreters.org) preferred within 6 months of target language test availability.
