Description Job Responsibilities Collaborate with nursing leadership team to assess education and performance needs of staff. Maintain proficiency as a Staff Nurse by providing patient care directly, precepting and/or providing bedside "just in time" education to the nursing staff. Serve as a clinical resource to staff; maintain visibility in the clinical environment for just in time learning facilitation and/or assisting in providing direct patient care. Precept registered nurses new to the department. Support role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and mastery as nursing staff advance from novice to expert. Develop and deliver education and training processes/activities to foster learning using strategies that engage learners in critical inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, and foster the development of competence in learners. Mentor and evaluate preceptors to enhance learning experiences for all new hires. Partner with educators throughout the organization to design educational programs that employ a variety of teaching-learning strategies and the use of technology. Assist in maintaining employee education documentation via database or hard copy documentation. Provide reports to management on continuing education programs as needed or required. Assess the success of training programs and modify programs, as needed to drive clinical competency of unit staff. Provide direct patient care per the staff RN role in the assigned unit as needed or required. Other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Minimum: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Nursing Preferred: Master's in nursing Experience Requirements Minimum Required: Three (3) years of clinical experience in the designated specialty area where the position will be located Preferred: Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. Experience developing and delivering both didactic simulated clinical education programs requiring skills demonstration in an acute hospital setting. License/Certification Requirements Minimum: Registered Nurse License eligible to practice in the state of Indiana Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AHA within six (6) months of hire Preferred: Certification in Med-Surg, Orthopedics or Chemotherapy Qualifications Education Bachelors or better in Nursing or related field.
