Job Description
The Clinical Athletic Trainer works under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician and reports to the Clinical Manager. This role provides clinical, clerical, and organizational support to physicians, providers, residents, and medical students using a team-based approach to patient care. The Athletic Trainer assists with direct patient care activities, coordinates appointments and diagnostic testing, manages medical documentation, and performs specialty and rehabilitative procedures as directed. The position promotes a safe, efficient, and positive patient experience while supporting clinic quality metrics, patient education, and continuity of care. Essential Functions: Perform and document patient care activities including vital signs, assistance with physical examinations, dressing changes, suture removal, basic lab procedures, and specimen collection. Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and use Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in accordance with emergency clinical policies and protocols. Assist providers, residents, and medical students as a clinical healthcare team member, escalating abnormalities or concerns to the supervising provider as necessary. Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care to support continuity of services. Perform, document, and bill patient visits, including rehabilitation and patient education services, under the direction of the physician. Review patient medical histories, document updates or changes, and notify providers of identified issues or concerns. Provide patient education and review plans of care when protocols are in place to support understanding and adherence. Complete triage activities, including reviewing electronic messages, test results, and routing information to providers for further care coordination. Maintain patient safety and overall patient experience by following clinical standards, emergency procedures, and quality metrics. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/Sports Medicine or related Field Florida Athletic Trainer License Board of Athletic Trainer (BOC) One (1) year of Athletic Training experience in a physician practice OR three (3) years of Athletic Training experience in a traditional or other setting. Casting and splinting experience - Preferred
