Job Description
Meritus Health is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tumor Registry Specialist to support our cancer program by monitoring, documenting, and analyzing cancer cases diagnosed and/or treated within our health system. This role plays a vital part in maintaining compliance with national cancer registry standards, supporting research initiatives, and ensuring the accuracy of cancer data used to improve patient outcomes. ### What You'll Do * Abstract and document cancer cases in accordance with standards established by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), FORDS, and Certified Tumor Registrar Association guidelines. * Conduct case-finding activities by reviewing pathology reports, radiation oncology schedules, and medical oncology records to identify reportable cancer cases. * Enter and maintain accurate patient and cancer data within electronic registry software. * Attend and support Cancer, Breast, and GYN conferences, including note-taking and meeting coordination. * Assist with Cancer Committee activities, accreditation surveys, and related documentation. * Retrieve and process medical records and information requests through EPIC and other systems. * Track patient follow-up information and maintain compliance with cancer registry standards. * Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education. ### Qualifications **Education** * Associate degree required. * Completion of at least two semesters of Human Anatomy and/or Physiology coursework. * Degree may be in a healthcare-related field such as Health Information Management, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Healthcare Administration, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or a related discipline. **Experience** * One year of experience in a healthcare-related field preferred. **Certification** * Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification required within two years or two testing opportunities following completion of required training. ### What We're Looking For * Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology. * Ability to analyze and interpret medical records and clinical documentation. * Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. * Strong written and verbal communication abilities. * Ability to work independently while collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams. * Adaptability, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning. **Caring for our Team** We are committed to supporting the well-being and professional development of our team members through a comprehensive benefits package, which includes: * Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Coverage begins on the first of the month following your hire date. * Life Insurance & Disability Coverage Includes company-paid life insurance, as well as short- and long-term disability benefits to provide peace of mind. * Paid Time Off (PTO) A generous PTO program designed to help you recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance. * 401(k) Retirement Plan Benefit from a robust company match to support your long-term financial goals. * Education Assistance & Tuition Reimbursement Support for your continued learning and career growth. * Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) Options to save pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses. * Shift Differential Pay Team members working evening, night, or weekend shifts may be eligible for additional pay. **Happy to Help** At Meritus, we believe in a collaborative and caring work environment.
