Office Nurse LPN - UTampa Student Health

The Office Nurse- LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) provides technical nursing and performs selected acts which include administration of treatments and medications, the promotion of wellness, the maintenance of health and the prevention of illness of others, under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Documents nursing interventions, identifies and reports situations requiring intervention. The Office Nurse- LPN is accountable for his/her own acts. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the values of Tampa General Hospital and the principles of FOCUS-PDCA. Essential Functions: Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise required in the care of the patients. Collects data from patient, family and significant others by interview, observation, inspection, auscultation and palpation. Performs psychomotor skills according to established guidelines. Delivers care based on psychological, educational and developmental needs, age and standards of care. Provides accurate and consistent documentation of patient care and response to care in the medical record. Remains alert to changes in patient condition and reports to R.N. any specific signs and symptoms requiring further assessment, communication and/or interviewing. Responds effectively in emergency situations. Ensures that charges are documented on the log sheet. Delegates duties and tasks in collaboration with the RN, after assessing competency and scope of responsibility. Serves as a preceptor, as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate from a technical program - Practical Nursing (LPN) License - Issued by Florida or Compact State: Licensed Practical Nurse Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of administration of immunizations and/or vaccines Documenting in an electronic health record system
