Job Description

The Supervisor provides operational leadership and shares 24-hour, 7-day accountability with the Nurse Manager for safe, high-quality, person-centered care delivery across Elbow Lake Emergency Department and Med/Surg services. This is a working supervisor role and may include assigned direct-care shifts, shift coverage, or other unit assignments as needed to meet department and patient care needs. This role ensures daily operational readiness through safe staffing, effective communication, escalation, and consistent application of care standards. Responsible for day-to-day operations, staff support, patient flow, and execution of care delivery while supporting quality, safety, regulatory readiness, and performance outcomes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides day to day leadership for ED and Med Surg operations with shared 24/7 accountability for staffing, workflow consistency, real time decision making, and readiness for trauma program activities Ensures effective patient flow and care coordination across ED and inpatient services while collaborating with providers and EMS and supporting trauma stabilization, transfers, and communication with receiving facilities Promotes a non-punitive safety culture and ensures adherence to CAH regulatory requirements, documentation standards, care planning expectations, survey readiness, and identification of compliance risks in daily operations. Supports staff development through coaching, feedback, onboarding, competency validation, hiring participation, and performance management while functioning as a working supervisor who provides direct care when needed Supports productivity, efficient resource utilization, and responsible stewardship in daily operations. Maintains effective communication across teams, escalates concerns appropriately, and contributes to continuous improvement by monitoring metrics, participating in initiatives, and taking ownership of daily outcomes Hours/Shift Full-time salaried-exempt working supervisory role. Compensation Salaried-exempt with an hourly wage range equivalent to $38.81 - $64.45/hour. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations. Healthcare licensure required (RN, Paramedic, or comparable clinical licensure) Clinical experience in emergency or inpatient care preferred Previous leadership or charge experience preferred Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills required Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, CALS, and PALS; must be current upon hire or obtained within the required timeframe after hire.
