Job Description
Position/Department Summary: Under general supervision and in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures, installs, inspects, tests, repairs and replaces equipment, fixtures and controls for specialized electronic systems, including pneumatic tube and electronic conveyor systems, computerized facility monitoring system FAS , fire and security alarms and automated air circulation monitoring and control system. Key Responsibilities: Responding to routine and emergency service requests via on‑line work order, radio dispatch or as assigned by Group Leader/Supervisor. Planning assigned work by examining detailed blueprints/drawings and project specifications, selecting and obtaining needed equipment and materials and determining appropriate sequence of tasks. Installing system equipment, fixtures and controls in accordance with manufacturer and hospital specifications. Measuring, cutting, threading, bending and assembling conduits and fittings and runs and connects system wiring. Installing, securing and connecting fixtures and equipment, including switches, motors, transformers and computerized control devices. Inspecting, repairing and maintaining electronic system elements, appliances and equipment. Disassembling, examining and/or utilizing specialized testing instruments in order to isolate defects/malfunctions and removes, repairs and/or replaces parts/fixtures/equipment as needed. Performing periodic testing and inspection of systems and component equipment in order to assess functional status and conformance with hospital, code and regulatory standards. Maintaining communication with other engineering department personnel in order to plan and coordinate work assignments and describe and refer problems/issues outside scope of authority/trade. Communicating with customer departments as needed to clarify job specifications and minimize any disruption of department services/operations. Completing, filing and/or routing a variety of logs and records required to document work performed and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements. Maintaining neatness and safety of work area. Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment in working condition, reporting items in need of repair or replacement to Group Leader/Supervisor. Returns materials/equipment to designated storage locations. Maintaining technical knowledge and skills through attendance at in service and continuing education programs and participation in other related activities. Minimum Qualifications: High School / GED and up to 1 year of basic technical training required Experience: 1 years’ experience required 3 years of facilities experience preferred Licensure: Current Massachusetts Electrician licensure is required Shift/hours: Tuesday –Saturday: 3:00 - 11:00pm Waltham Location The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
