As a nursing student, would you like the opportunity to be in an acute care inpatient clinical setting while working under the direction of a nurse?We are seeking nursing students, who are interested in our Student Nurse Extern program starting the week of December 15, 2026! Student Nurse Externs provide hygiene/comfort measures and selected direct and indirect patient care activities and ancillary duties for our patients. This position is for ALL Cecil, Wilmington and Newark campuses. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:The nurse extern will demonstrate skills and knowledge vital to deliver care appropriate to a diverse patient population, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to acquire information to identify patient needs, and to provide the appropriate care needed.The student nurse will perform crucial unit specific tasks such as:Communicating to patients, families, employees, and physicians using both verbal and written communication skills.Responds to patient needs with promptness, initiates interventions within scope of responsibility and collaborates with RN.Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
