Overview
Beebe Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Per Diem Vascular Access RN (PICC) to provide specialized nursing care to patients requiring vascular access services. This role delivers both direct and indirect nursing care for patients needing intermediate care, including the insertion and management of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines) and other vascular access devices. This per diem position requires flexibility, including varied shifts with some weekend and holiday coverage.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in vascular access—specifically PICC insertion skills—along with strong critical‑thinking abilities and sound clinical judgment. The Vascular Access RN will guide and support team members while ensuring care is consistent with hospital policies, evidence‑based practice, and high-quality patient standards. Effective communication, clinical collaboration, and interpretive decision-making are essential to this role.
Responsibilities
Vascular Access & Clinical Procedures
- Perform PICC and midline catheter insertions using ultrasound guidance and evidence-based protocols.
- Assess, plan, and implement vascular access interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
- Monitor catheter sites daily and intervene appropriately to maintain line patency and prevent complications.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and safety protocols.
Patient Care & Education
- Provide education to patients and families regarding vascular access care and maintenance.
- Assess patient learning needs, document teaching provided, and adjust education plans as needed.
- Facilitate, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
- Offer consultative support to clinical staff regarding vascular access best practices.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, procedures, and patient responses.
- Transcribe orders accurately and ensure compliance with hospital and departmental policies.
- Track noninvasive procedures and utilization to support departmental reporting and accreditation standards.
Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Vascular Access Team.
- Assess patient safety needs and identify requirements for specific safety devices.
- Evaluate test results promptly, reporting critical findings immediately.
Professional & Technical Skills
- Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in vascular access procedures.
- Apply critical thinking and prioritization skills within a dynamic clinical environment.
- Maintain equipment and supplies while adhering to radiation and procedural safety standards.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 5 years nursing experience.
- Must have experience with PICC line insertion.
Credentials
- RN - Registered Nurse
- BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Entry
USD $36.20/Hr.
Max
USD $59.73/Hr.
