Job Description

OverviewThe MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images as ordered by a physician and in accordance with established protocols. This role is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care while supporting accurate diagnostics and maintaining equipment performance. Key Responsibilities:Diagnostic ImagingOperate MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.Ensure adherence to physician orders and imaging protocols.Patient Monitoring & CareMonitor patient condition, safety, and comfort during procedures.Identify and report any abnormalities or changes in patient status.Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and families to reduce anxiety and gain cooperation.Equipment Operation & MaintenanceAdjust imaging equipment and controls to meet exam specifications.Perform routine equipment checks, testing, and minor troubleshooting.Report major equipment malfunctions for repair or replacement.Preparation & WorkflowReview patient information and physician orders prior to procedures.Prepare appropriate equipment and ensure efficient workflow prioritization.Data & DocumentationAccurately record diagnostic data and maintain patient imaging records in applicable systems.Diagnostic CollaborationAssist physicians and specialists in interpreting imaging results as needed. Organizational Values & ExpectationsWe are committed to a culture that reflects:Respect for People: Compassion, empathy, and dignity for all patients and colleaguesTeamwork: Collaboration, positivity, and pride in our workCommitment & Accountability: Safety-first mindset and high ethical standardsCommunication: Clear, respectful, and supportive interactionsContinuous Improvement (Wake Way 2 Excellence): Identifying efficiencies, reducing waste, and supporting workflow improvements Education Requirements:Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program (required)ORGraduate of an Accredited Nuclear Medicine Program (required) Experience:Minimum 1 year of clinical radiology experience (preferred) Licensure & Certifications (Required)Candidates must meet one of the following certification pathways:Registered Technologist in Radiography and Registered Technologist in MRIORRegistered Technologist in Nuclear Medicine Technology and Registered Technologist in MRIORCertified Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Registered Technologist in MRI Why Join Us?Work with advanced imaging technology in a collaborative environmentMake a direct impact on patient outcomes and care qualityOpportunities for professional growth and continuous improvement initiatives Department DescriptionServing the community since 1961, WakeMed Health & Hospitals is the leading provider of health services in Wake County.
