Job Description

**Summary:** The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist II is responsible for delivering high quality patient care through efficient, knowledgeable, and safe performance in assisting physicians with Cardiac Catheterization and other procedures that he/she has received training i.e. electrophysiology, vascular. **These duties and responsibilities** described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned. - Assist the physician as requested and directed in the performance of any cardiac catheterization, invasive diagnostic or interventional procedure - Observe and attend to the needs of each patient while in the care of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory - Accurately record, note, and file as necessary - Provide explanation and instruction to any medical personnel observing a procedure in order to maintain sterility of necessary areas, safety of patients, and safety of personnel. - Assist, as directed by a physician, during any emergency resuscitation procedure - Check the function of and prepare equipment for any necessary patient procedures; complete checklists - Assist the director in maintaining proper stock of supplies by informing of low levels or defective materials - Assist in preparing patient for procedure and do any pre-cath teaching deemed necessary according to patient needs - Assist in providing post-cath care to include post-cath teachings and accompanying the patient back to their room - Prepare instrument tables by: checking all equipment; checking fluids, medications dosage, concentration, and expiration dates; and ensuring instruments are the proper size - Be proficient in percutaneous diagnostic and interventional procedures - Be proficient in functioning as a scrub assistant, monitor, and circulator - Maintain equipment in ready condition - Process charges - Maintain and distribute patient digital records within HIPPA guidelines - Maintain active ACLS and BLS certification - Provides copies of all licenses, registries, and certifications to the Cardiovascular Clinical Supervisor - Assists the physician as requested and directed in the performance of any cardiac catheterization procedure - Observes and attends to the needs of each patient while in the care of invasive cardiac services i.e. cath labs, electrophysiology lab or holding area - Prepares the patient for the procedure, explains the procedure and assures patient cooperation during testing - Provides pre and post-cath education as needed - Maintains a clean and orderly environment throughout the cardiac invasive lab. - Maintain established department policies, procedures, and objectives regarding quality assurance, safety, and environmental and infection control - Accurately completes patient procedure documentation, notes and files accordingly - Checks equipment for safe use prior any patient procedure - Assists team in maintaining proper supply stock and informs technical leads or clinical supervisor of low or out-of-date stock - May be requested to conduct in-services and meetings - Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services - Must be available to take monthly after-hours, weekend and/or holiday call as required by the department - Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care - Accepts assignment as a task nurse within the service line if needed - Exemplifies excellent customer relations towards patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect to others in the adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting a positive work and customer environment **Qualifications** **Minimum Required Education** : Associates degree or higher, completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program towards obtaining a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registry **Experience** : 2+ years Cath Lab experience is required. Employee should be competent in position within 90-days of employment. **Applicant must be retain a registry** as a RCIS, RCVT, RCES, or registry eligible. ACLS and BLS certification required
