Job Description

The Education Injury Prevention Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with Program Manager of Trauma & Burn Service to support the plans, development, implementation and evaluation of physician, nursing, and allied health trauma & burn related education, prevention and outreach programs. All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. CNMC supports the development of RN relationships within the community; specifically, those relationships associated with the health and wellbeing of the community at large.
The following licenses & certifications would be required within 1 year of hire:
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
TNAC (Trauma Nursing Advanced Course),Minimum Education
BSN (Required)
Master's Degree (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience
3 years progressive acute care and management experience (Required)
Required Licenses and Certifications
Licensure/certification in specialty required as applicable. (Required)
Functional Accountabilities
Organizational Functions
Collaborate with the Program Manager & Chief, Trauma & Burn Services and other organizational leaders in promoting American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) criteria and regulations for trauma & burn related education, prevention and outreach programs.
Participate in assigned organizational committees.
Design, coordinate, and evaluate interventions which advance the mission of CNMC, support the strategic plan, and deliver designated outcomes.
Serve as consultant in instructional design and evaluation.
Education
Develop, plan and present educational programs consistent with an educational needs assessment.
Use knowledge base of teaching and learning theories to develop curriculum design, test and measurement evaluation.
Use adult learning principles to contribute to professional development activities.
Serve as faculty/coordinator for Trauma T rends in Nursing.
Participate in nursing orientation and other in-service programs for professional and para-professional nursing staff.
Evaluate the outcomes of educational endeavors and track learner’s outcomes.
Injury Prevention Outreach
Acknowledge requests for information and education from community-based hospitals and other health care organizations.
Collaborate with external injury prevention community organizations to focus on the primary causes of injury in the region.
Utilize trauma registry data to help design interventions to prevent childhood injuries within the District of Columbia.
Participate in collaborative injury prevention research efforts.
