ELIGIBLE FOR CMH EMPLOYEE REFERRAL BONUS: PRIORITY RECRUITMENT The Emergency Department Staff Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to their Emergency assigned patients.# This includes assessment of patient needs, including life threatening emergencies, development of a flexible nursing plan of care, administration and evaluation of nursing care and supervision of others in the delivery of nursing care. Job Requirements Knowledge of /Skill/Ability to:## A thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedure; knowledge and skills in techniques of patient care. Must be able to read and write English as well as speak and understand English.# Must be willing to flex up for short term needs such as vacations or illness.# The person must be dependable regarding attendance and self-motivated.# Unplanned work absence must be held to a minimum. License/Certification: RN currently licensed with the Oregon State Board of Nursing. BLS required upon hire through the American Heart Association.# ACLS, PALS/ENPC required, new#graduates or employees who are new to this unit will have six months to complete ACLS, PALS/ENPC through the American Heeart Association. TNCC required within a year of hire in#this unit.# CEN preferred.# Education and/or Experience:# Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Previous satisfactory acute care hospital experience of one year preferred.# Previous satisfactory Emergency Department Care experience relevant to the patient population of this unit or completion of an approved Emergency Department course.##For RNs graduating within the last 12 months, or RNs that have not practiced in an acute care facility within the last 24 months, and have not previously completed a residency program will be required to complete the CMH-provided#Nurse Residency program. Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance# Works inside.# Walking and standing much of the time while on duty.#Ability to lift and transfer patients is required, usually with the assistance of co-workers.# Normal or corrected vision is required.# Normal or corrected hearing is necessary to distinguish differences in heartbeats, breathing and monitor alarms.# Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment. Subject to physical and emotional stress of work environment.# Occasional exposure to infectious diseases. Pushes/pulls loaded adult stretchers, beds, wheelchairs, crash carts and equipment carts.# Transfers patients to/from cars, stretchers, beds, chairs and ambulates as necessary.# Tolerates bending, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling for 8 # 12 hours (shift dependent).# Lifts or carries up to 50 lbs.
