**JOB SUMMARY** Performs and participates in administrative duties which assist a hospital unit to function optimally. Maintains an organized healthcare setting and allows medical and nursing staff to focus on patient care. Maintains a line of communication between the patients and clinical staff. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** Proficient in use of the computer, with good typing skills. --- Understands medical terminology and hospital department workflows. Enters orders in the computer accurately. Answers telephones professionally and promptly. Assists with registration, billing, and insurance authorization activities as needed. Schedules appointments, arranges transportation as needed. Familiar with Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. Care and Documentation meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.
