Job Description

The Oncology Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in the preparation, handling, and distribution of medications for oncology patients, including chemotherapy and other hazardous medications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring medications are compounded accurately and safely in accordance with USP <797>, USP <800>, and organizational policies. The Oncology Pharmacy Technician assists with sterile compounding, medication preparation, inventory management, and regulatory compliance while maintaining the highest standards of safety for patients and staff. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** **Sterile Compounding & Chemotherapy Preparation **Assist pharmacists in preparing and compounding sterile and hazardous medications, including chemotherapy, using proper aseptic technique and equipment. Follow USP <797> and <800> standards, including appropriate garbing, cleanroom procedures, labeling, and documentation. **Safety & Compliance **Adhere to all hazardous drug handling, PPE, and spill management protocols. Maintain a clean, compliant compounding environment and promptly report any safety concerns or discrepancies. **Medication Distribution & Inventory **Support medication preparation, dispensing, and delivery for oncology patients. Monitor inventory, including stock levels, expiration dates, storage requirements, and assist with ordering and receiving supplies. **Documentation & Administrative Support **Maintain accurate compounding logs and records.
