Responsibilities - Continuously observes patients' behavior, mental status and activities, notifies RN of any changes or unusual occurrences. - Consistently and independently maintains a safe, clean environment for patients. - Consistently adheres to established BBMC Close Observation Patient and Suicidal Patient Protocols - Consistently and independently documents patient observation data on the Close Observation Supervision Record. - Reports maintenance needs. - Utilizes universal precautions. - Gives accurate report to oncoming shift. - Provides patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions. - Escorts patients when leaving the unit for activities and scheduled tests. - Demonstrates the ability to set limits for patients and other de-escalation techniques. Qualifications - Ability to remain attentive and alert for extended periods - Strong observation and communication skills - Ability to follow instructions and report patient behavior accurately - Compassionate, patient-focused attitude - Understanding of patient safety and infection control protocols - Respectful of patient dignity and privacy - Reliable and punctual - Comfortable working with patients with dementia, mental health issues, or those at risk for falls/self-harm Competencies Skills - Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal - Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members - Able To Withstand Crisis Situations - Has Skills To Provides Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors - Knowledge And Experience With Electronic Health Records Credentials - BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification Education - High School diploma or equivalent required or must obtain GED within 6 months of hire date. Entry USD $16.50/Hr. Max USD $25.58/Hr.
