This hybrid role combines the clinical responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant with the administrative and communication functions of a Unit Secretary. The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt between clinical and clerical duties based on unit needs. Responsibilities Patient Care & Safety - Provide direct patient care including bathing, mouth care, skin care, and linen changes. - Anticipate and assist with all patient personal needs. - Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment following all infection control and fall prevention protocols. - Assist with positioning, turning, lifting, and ambulating patients; apply special equipment and complete treatments as directed. - Conduct Accuchecks and other delegated care tasks per protocol. Documentation & Communication - Accurately document patient data including care activities, treatments, vital signs, and intake/output in the EMR. - Maintain and organize patient paper charts and ensure proper patient identification on all documents. - Ensure patient charts are complete and accompany patients during transfers or discharge. - Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and the healthcare team; promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN. - Provide accurate bedside report during shift handoff and maintain awareness of patient care plan updates. Unit Coordination & Administrative Support - Promptly monitor and process physician/provider orders in the EMR; schedule studies, procedures, and consults as needed. - Serve as the first point of contact for incoming calls, visitors, and staff inquiries, directing communication appropriately. - Maintain inventory of supplies, forms, and equipment; ensure timely ordering, storage, and replacement of items. - Submit, track, and follow up on maintenance and equipment repair requests. - Ensure the unit remains prepared for EMR downtime events by maintaining necessary materials and functioning downtime equipment. Patient Rounds & Nutritional Support - Conduct purposeful hourly rounding to anticipate and meet patient needs. - Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests. - Assist with meal tray delivery, feeding, and documentation of intake; ensure patients receive water and nourishment throughout the shift. Professional Accountability - Participate actively in unit-based councils, performance improvement initiatives, and continuing education. - Demonstrate flexibility in alternating between CNA and Unit Secretary duties as needed to support unit workflow. - Uphold Beebe Healthcare’s values of compassion, excellence, integrity, and teamwork in all interactions. Qualifications - Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Previous experience as a CNA or Unit Secretary in an acute care setting preferred. - Strong computer and EMR (Epic) skills preferred. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Max USD $28.29/Hr.
