Nurse Residency Program
All nurses are automatically enrolled in a 12-month Nurse Residency Program offered through a partnership between Delta Health, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence.
This transition-to-practice program supports new graduate nurses as they move from an academic to a clinical environment. The program includes:
A blended continuing education curriculum through the University of Iowa and the Colorado CenterDedicated mentors and preceptorsLeadership development opportunitiesFocus on strengthening critical thinking and clinical skills in a supportive environment
Key Responsibilities
Deliver patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and the Nurse Practice ActRecognize patient problems or complications and intervene appropriatelyAdminister medications safely and accuratelyParticipate in the development and adherence to nursing care standardsAssess discharge planning needs upon patient admissionPlan and coordinate workflow to ensure timely completion of dutiesEnsure patient and family needs are consistently metReport significant changes in patient condition or response to treatment promptlyParticipate in shift handoff reportsMaintain clear, professional communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
Required Education & Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing programMust obtain RN licensure in the State of Colorado within 90 days of hireOne year of relevant experience preferredSpecialty certification preferred (for specialty areas)BLS certification requiredACLS and PALS certifications required within 6 months of hire
