JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE M aintains, repairs, and applies protective coatings to interior/exterior surfaces (e.g. walls, ceilings, furniture) to ensure a clean, safe, and aesthetic environment, often using specialized antimicrobial coatings. Key duties include surface preparation (patching, sanding), color matching, and following strict infection control/safety standards to minimize disruption to patient care. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION P lant engineering oversees maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors through the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of building and grounds infrastructure and equipment. EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS H igh school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year experience in commercial or maintenance painting required. Experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred. Successful completion of Drivers Privileges for SHS V ehicles application process required. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES P roficiency in painting tools, techniques, and materials (e.g. latex, epoxy, antimicrobial coatings). Understanding of OSHA , accrediting agencies, and local health department regulations. Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills to interact with hospital staff. Color perception for color matching and blending. Ability to detect surface imperfections (less than a few feet away).
