Overview In this role, you will perform a wide range of elective and emergency surgeries while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional manual dexterity, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to patient-centered care. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities - Surgical Procedures: Perform variety of invasive procedures, including laparoscopic, endoscopic, and open surgeries on the alimentary tract, abdomen, breast, and skin. - Patient Diagnosis: Examine patients, take medical histories, and order/interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, lab work) to determine the necessity of surgery. - Comprehensive Care: Manage all phases of surgical care, including preoperative physical and psychological preparation and postoperative recovery monitoring. - Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate surgical staff, including assistant surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams, to maintain a sterile and efficient operating room environment. - Consultation & Education: Advise patients and families on treatment options, surgical risks, and recovery plans in layman's terms. - Emergency Response: Provide immediate surgical intervention for trauma or acute conditions when specialized surgeons are unavailable. - Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records (EMR), including operative notes and discharge summaries. Qualifications Required Qualifications - Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. - Training: Completion of a 5-year accredited General Surgery residency program. - Licensure: Active and unrestricted state medical license. - Certification: Board certification (or eligibility) by the American Board of Surgery or equivalent. - Experience: Typically 3+ years of post-residency experience is preferred.
