OverviewQUALIFICATIONSThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job. Education / Formal Training / Licensure / Certification / ExperienceGraduate of an approved School of Nursing with a current North Carolina RN license or RN multi‑state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure CompactBSN required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferredMinimum five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in cardiology or cardiothoracic servicesMinimum two (2) years of supervisory or nurse leadership experienceMinimum five (5) years of ambulatory or private clinic operational management experience Additional SkillsProven clinical operations and nursing leadership skills in multi‑site environments. Strong project development, implementation, and change management capability. Exceptional verbal and written collaboration and communication skills. Strong critical thinking, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and workflows independently. Working knowledge of financial and business principles, including budget planning, productivity monitoring, and strategic development. Proficiency with Epic EMR, scheduling systems, in‑basket/work queue management, and operational reporting. Must be able to comprehend complex information, serve as a positive role model, remain flexible and open to change, and function effectively under pressure. Maintains professional and clinical competency appropriate to the services provided and patient populations served.  MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE ROLE Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of Cardiology ServicesProvides strategic and operational leadership for cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and chest services across ambulatory settingsImplements service objectives supporting access, growth, quality outcomes, and patient experienceEvaluates clinical programs and workflows to ensure alignment with organizational goals and best practices  Clinical Operations and Process ManagementProvides dual leadership for administrative operations and nursing/clinical services across Cardiology clinicsOversees day‑to‑day clinic operations including staffing models, scheduling templates, patient flow, referrals, and authorizationsEnsures efficient Epic workflows, including in‑basket and work queue managementPrepares and reviews operational, quality, and productivity reportsSupports payroll processes, administrative documentation, and staffing oversight  Nursing and Clinical LeadershipProvides oversight of nursing practice to ensure evidence‑based standards across cardiology servicesSupervises RNs, LPNs, nursing assistants, and clinical support roles; ensures competency validation and skill maintenanceLeads staffing plans, schedules, cross‑training, and coverage strategiesOversees safety, infection prevention, and quality programs; ensures regulatory readinessMaintains clinical knowledge sufficient to provide leadership oversight of triage, EKGs, wound care, post‑operative surgical management, and device‑related workflows   Clinical Coordination for CVT, Heart Failure, and General Cardiology Oversees RN‑led coordination of pre‑ and post‑operative cardiothoracic surgical care, comprehensive heart failure clinic management, and longitudinal general cardiology servicesEnsures processes are in place for chart preparation, diagnostic coordination, Epic documentation, individualized care plan updates, and follow‑up scheduling across CT, HF, and cardiology clinicsProvides leadership oversight for triage workflows, timely lab and imaging review, medication reconciliation, and escalation protocolsEnsures completion of consents, pre-procedure and pre‑operative documentation, surgical and procedural authorizations, and readiness for OR, cath lab, imaging, and specialty evaluationsProvides direct clinical and operational coverage for any subspecialty during staff absences or vacancies to ensure uninterrupted patient care and clinic operations  Provider, Hospital, and Interdepartmental CollaborationServes as a key operational and clinical resource for employed providers and referral partnersCoordinates care across imaging, OR, cath lab, home health, navigation teams, and inpatient servicesFacilitates communication between clinics, hospital departments, and leadership to ensure seamless patient care  Compliance, Accreditation, and Regulatory OversightCoordinates accreditation, regulatory readiness, and compliance activities as applicableEnsures adherence to DNV, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, OIG, and state/federal regulationsLeads audit readiness, policy compliance, and corrective action planning  Financial and Resource StewardshipParticipates in development and management of operating and capital budgetsMonitors staffing productivity, supply utilization, and cost controlsSupports revenue cycle workflows through accurate clinical documentation and operational alignment  Performance Monitoring and OutcomesUses defined Key Performance Indicators to monitor performance across services, including: Access & Flow: lead time, template utilization, no‑show ratesQuality & Safety: audits, incident reporting, competency completionPatient Experience: complaint resolution and satisfaction trendsPeople & Culture: turnover, vacancies, staffing coverageFinancial: productivity and supply expense management
