Position SummaryThe postgraduate year two (PGY-2) Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency is a year-long program in which residents will experience a robust clinical environment and be actively involved in the emergency department service line.During the year, residents will take part in:Hospital-wide code blue responseFAST alert responseReal-time drug information question responseDirect physician consultationCommittee involvement The pharmacy residency programs at FirstHealth are designed to inspire, challenge and develop residents into well-rounded clinical pharmacists who are able to care for patients in the acute care setting. PYG2 programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to help contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice.  PGY2 programs provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available. The emergency medicine services at FirstHealth take place primarily at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital (MRH). This 402-bed flagship hospital has a 40-bed emergency department and sees more than 60,000 patients annually. Located in central North Carolina, MRH services a primary area including six counties, and is a secondary referral center for 15 counties.
