Overview The Casual Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive direct and indirect nursing care to oncology patients receiving treatment at the South Coastal Cancer Center. This role requires specialized clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and adherence to departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care related to oncology and infusion services. The Oncology Infusion RN collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, administer infusion therapies, monitor treatment responses, and provide patient and family education. The position requires strong interpretive skills, clinical judgment, and frequent interaction with patients, families, providers, and support staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and positive outcomes. The Casual Oncology Infusion RN is dedicated to promoting patient safety, delivering compassionate care, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and supporting the overall mission and goals of the South Coastal Cancer Center. This position performs all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements, professional nursing standards, and organizational expectations. Responsibilities - Administer infusion therapies, medications, and treatments safely and accurately, ensuring all medications are documented appropriately and in a timely manner. - Assess, implement, coordinate, and evaluate individualized patient plans of care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team. - Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately at admission, during treatment, transfer, and discharge within established timeframes. - Demonstrate clinical competence and technical proficiency in the delivery of infusion therapy and other nursing procedures. - Utilize critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to identify patient needs, evaluate responses to treatment, and escalate concerns appropriately. - Monitor laboratory and diagnostic test results, promptly notify providers of abnormal findings, and immediately communicate critical values according to policy. - Identify patient safety risks and implement appropriate interventions, including the use of required safety devices and precautions. - Assess patient and family educational needs and provide clear verbal and written instructions regarding treatments, medications, follow-up care, and disease management. - Accurately transcribe, verify, and implement physician orders in a timely manner while maintaining compliance with organizational standards. - Prioritize daily responsibilities and patient care activities based on patient acuity, urgency, and clinical needs while utilizing available resources effectively. - Demonstrate independent problem-solving skills and collaborate with healthcare team members to achieve positive patient outcomes. - Collect blood, urine, and other specimens as ordered using proper techniques and equipment, ensuring accurate labeling and processing. - Coordinate timely transportation and delivery of specimens to the laboratory, courier services, or designated outside agencies. - Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements. - Promote a positive patient experience through professional communication, compassionate care, and patient advocacy. - Comply with all infection prevention, safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards. - Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications - At least one year of oncology infusion experience required Credentials - RN - Registered Nurse - BLS - Basic Life Saving certification - OCN - Oncology RN Certification (preferred) Education - RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program Entry USD $36.20/Hr. Max USD $59.73/Hr.
