Position Opening: Surgical Tech

Salary Range: $28.17 - $44.60; CST $31.20 - $50.86 per hour based upon union contract

Position Summary: The Surgical Tech handles the instruments, supplies and equipment
necessary during the surgical procedure. He/She has an understanding of the procedures being
performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/She has the necessary knowledge and
ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly vigilant when
maintaining the sterile field. May be asked to assist with non-nursing duties related to the surgical
department. Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director or Designee.

Job Requirements: Current WA state license; current certification of the Association of Surgical
Technicians preferred; Prefer at least one year of hospital surgical background however: will train
qualified candidate; Completion of Surgical Technologist course; Basic and thorough knowledge of
the functions and philosophies of the Surgical Department; Knowledge of asepsis and sterile
techniques; Ability to work swiftly and skillfully under stressful circumstances; Ability to work with a
myriad of physicians; Working knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment; Lift 40 pounds from
floor to waist and from wheelchair/chair to bed level; Pull 50 pounds from stretcher to bed and push
150 pound stretcher 300 feet; Lift 5 pounds overhead; Flexibility: kneeling, stooping, crouching,
crawling, squatting and ability to climb onto bed or stretcher.; Ability to take call for the OR.
