Qualifications
Continuing education and/or licensing requirements: Stay abreast of industry standards and trends
BS/BA in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, Business Administration or equivalent work experience required
Knowledgeable with medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT's, APC, DRG's, etc.) is required.
Accreditation/certification in Epic revenue cycle preferred
At least five years of previous hospital/clinic experience in all aspects of business functions required
At least five years of experience supervising others required
Position Summary
This position oversees billing, cash posting, claim processing and payor credentialing at Jefferson Healthcare. Communicates to all levels of the organization and must be able to work collaboratively and present recommendations for improvement to staff, physicians, other directors, and strategic leadership.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Oversees accounts receivable (AR) functions; develops, implements, monitors and analyzes all functions related to billing and collections to ensure leading revenue cycle operational performance is consistent of meeting cash goals and aging thresholds along with other revenue cycle benchmarks
Monitors all relevant EPIC work queues daily and works interdependently to prevent and resolve revenue cycle issues that impact JH financial performance
Monitors, identifies and reports any system issues negatively influencing accounts receivable
Ensures that all payments are applied accurately within 24 hours of receipt and that all open work queue items are resolved within 3-5 business days
Responsible for denial management work, work queues, and minimizing denials in the revenue cycle associated with business office functions
Monitors credit balance reports and refund requests to ensure timely resolution and response
Ensures that the billing workflow is constant, position will report out to the director of claim delays, electronic or paper billing issues, and resolve staff shortages in order to maintain a consistent flow of outgoing claims
Collaborates in initiating, arranging, implementing and monitoring payer contracts
Stays current with payer/claim specific issues and facilitates resolution through communication and coordination with health plans
Coordinates credentialing for physicians, documentation associated with the credentialing process
Supervises day-to-day operations of Billing I staff and workflow
Facilitates monthly staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as requested
Focuses and guides others in accomplishing work objectives
Obtains information and identifies key issues and relationships relevant to achieving a long-range goal or vision; commits to a course of action to accomplish a long-range goal or vision after developing alternatives based on logical assumptions, facts, available resources, constraints, and organizational values
Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans; modifies one's own behavior to accommodate tasks, situations, and individuals involved
Manages hiring, training, and performance management of staff for successful completion of departmental functions
Evaluates and selects internal and external talent to ensure the best match between the individual and the work requirements
Engages staff in development, monitoring, and achievement of departmental goals
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites work flow in a manner that supports exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
Establishes and maintains excellent customer service relations
Actively supports a positive workplace culture. Maintains effective employee and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and equitably.
Participates in and drives results through strategic Performance Improvement initiatives
Fosters a high-performing culture and drives employee engagement
