**SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
**Per Diem Incentive:
Per diem employees are eligible for an incentive above base pay based on shift commitment. Incentive percentages are applied to all hours worked and are determined as follows:
• No minimum shift commitment: 10% above base rate
• Commitment of 3 shifts per month: 15% above base rate
• Commitment of 4 or more shifts per month: 20% above base rate**
Incentive eligibility and commitment levels are subject to change and must be maintained to receive the applicable rate.
Under the supervision of a radiologist and the direction of the administrator, this position competently performs imaging on all general radiographic equipment and one additional modality. Responsible for radiographic and imaging protocols. Must have the ability to recognize imaging anatomy. Responsible for providing customer service excellence and complying with hospital and department policies and procedures. Uses RIS for proper recording of patient procedures and dissemination of patient results.
* Performs all routine radiographic examinations competently. Performs at least one additional modality competently: Nuclear Medicine; Mammography; CT scan; Quality Assurance; Bone Density; MRI.
* Must have good organizational skills and prioritizing skills.
* Must be able to work alone and as part of a team.
* Must be able to follow directions and operate competently during stressful situations
* Must be able to produce quality work in a reasonable time frame
* Must obtain 24 ECE credits, in a two year period for re-certification; must maintain NH license
* Knowledge and ability to provide care based on physical and psychosocial development and safety issues related to patients of all age groups including infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
* CPR certified
**Radiography** :
1. Performs all routine and specialized radiographic procedures
2. Completes patient exams with quality and timeliness
3. Assumes active and back-up call coverage for imaging on a rotating basis.
4. Operates all portable equipment in the OR, ER, OB, Nursery and in patients rooms
5. Provides radiation protection for patients and personnel in compliance with all state and federal regulations
6. Processes images as needed and within an acceptable time frame
7. Operates equipment capable of producing ionizing radiation in compliance with equipment specifications and state regulations
8. Adheres to sterile technique in procedures requiring sterile set-up
9. Assists radiologist in performance of exams requiring radiologist involvement
10. Prepares contrast media or medications for procedures
11. Able to establish I.V. access for procedures requiring such
12. Able to recognize and respond to allergic reactions
13. Performs necessary paper work, filing, record keeping, scheduling, charging of patients and any other clerical duties assigned by a supervisor
14. Competently performs necessary duties on hospital information system
15. Able to transport patients as needed and must be able to move or help patients onto imaging tables and/or into positions for imaging
16. Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as appropriate
17. Satisfies hospitals annual competencies
18. Assists in the development of other staff members
19. Conducts self in a professional manner and practices service excellence
20. Adheres the Radiological Technologist's code of ethics per A.R.R.T. standards
21. Responsible for patients safety, dignity, and well-being; greets patients kindly
22. Explains imaging procedures to patients and/or family members
23. Responsible for the care and cleaning of imaging equipment and imaging panels
24. Responsible for the aseptic care of all equipment before and following each patient procedure
25. Responsible for image management tasks including but not limited to electronically transmitting images upon request and exporting images onto electronic media upon request and as appropriate
26. Re-stocking of supplies in exam rooms
27. Adheres to all Hospital and department policies and procedures
28. Responsible for the continuity of all tasks
29. Responsible for proper radiation protection techniques
30. Perform all other duties as assigned by the DIS management team

**Nuclear Medicine:**
1. Demonstrates working knowledge of New Hampshire rules and regulations as they apply to nuclear medicine and low level radioactive materials
2. Able and competently produces high quality images on all nuclear medicine equipment
3. Communicates fully to patients and staff the physiological basis for exam and the preparation necessary for the exam
4. Possesses the knowledge/adaptability to tailor a requested study to the patients physical/mental status and ability while still producing high quality images that meet criteria for radiologist interpretation
5. Works closely with the radiologist to ensure that the appropriate images are obtained to meet his/her evaluation criteria
6. Able to trouble shoot imaging unit and performs all needed QA studies as well as having the knowledge to evaluate QA results to ensure unit is working properly.
7. Calls for unit dosages for next day delivery and completes all necessary documentation for the same
8. Receives, stores, and properly disposes of radionuclides
9. Maintains accurate, legible and thorough records of nuclides received and administered in accordance with New Hampshire regulations
10. Has a working knowledge of laboratory results as they pertain to requested imaging studies and uses information to make decisions about requested studies
11. Assays and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients either orally or intravenously

# CT Scan
1\. Able to use all equipment in CT to produce high quality studies for radiologist interpretation
2\. Establishes proper exam criteria and parameters for each procedure
3\. Prepares and injects contrast media under the direction of the radiologist
4\. Prepares and administers oral and/or rectal contrast as required
5\. Assists radiologist in invasive procedures
6\. Competently uses work station to augment examinations
7\. Has sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology resulting in proper patient positioning and acceptable image production
8\. Provides thorough and detailed documentation regarding patient information and history
# Mammography
1\. Meets criteria for continuing education and exam numbers per year to maintain FDA credentialing in mammography
2\. Demonstrates a working knowledge of mammography equipment and processing necessary to produce clinically acceptable mammographic images
3\. Understands and uses all "standard views" necessary to produce optimal demonstration of all breast tissue
4\. Understands and applies the basics of exposure technique to select the proper technical factors
5\. Demonstrates proficiency in adapting to patients bodily habitus and physical demands and adjusts equipment accordingly
6\. Understands and practices mammography QC/QA procedures
7\. Participates in mammography QA activities
Assists the radiologist in the performance of aspirations and biopsies
8\. Communicates clearly with the patients on the need for repeats or additional views as to lessen the patient's anxiety
9\. Carefully documents all clinical data/observations to the radiologist, making sure they are aware of the exact location of scars, moles or masses

# Quality Assurance
** **
1\. Performs and interprets, daily sensitometry strips on department automatic processors. This includes analysis, charting, evaluation of results and consultation with radiology supervisors in respect to service
2\. Prepares updates and standardizes imaging/procedures charts located in radiology rooms. Suggests to supervisors when procedures need to be updated/added
3\. Assists in the orientation of new procedures, equipment and routines. Documents all training
4\. Prepares, evaluates, posts and reports on contrast sensitivity reactions
5\. Performs, evaluates and documents all MQSA QA activities necessary to keep current with federal standards
6\. Works with all concerned to analyze results and propose corrective actions
7\. Maintains and oversees all MQSA documentation and works with on-site inspectors during on-site inspections
8\. Assists in the orientation of new employees and students, ensuring all required paper work is completed.
9\. Completes morning report from HIS and distributes to necessary departments/individuals
10\. Participates in all follow-up to patient/customer complaints
11\. Assists Department Director identify areas/issues that would improve function and quality

**MRI:**
1\. Able to use all equipment in MRI to produce high quality studies for interpretation
2\. Establishes proper exam criteria and parameters for each procedure
3\. Competently uses work station to augment examinations
4\. Has sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology resulting in proper patient positioning and acceptable image production
5\. Provides thorough and detailed documentation regarding patient information, including, but not limited to, implant documentation
6\. Provides thorough and detailed documentation of MRI safety screening of patient
7\. Adheres to all Hospital and department policies and procedures
8\. Conducts QC tasks following manufacturer's guidelines; maintains accurate QC data
9\. Perform all other duties as assigned by the DIS management team.

**QUALIFICATIONS: **Must be currently licensed with the NH Board of Medical Imaging as a Radiographer, and, if applicable, in any other modality as required

**Experience/Specialized Skills: **Certification preferred in additional modalities performed. **Required Education/Course(s)/Training: **Graduate of accredited radiography program with a minimum Associates Degree.** ** **Preferred Certification/Registration: **A.R.R.T. registered. Membership in a professional organization is preferred.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT:**
Works inside a clean, well-lighted and ventilated area. Subject to exposure to disagreeable odors, noise and trauma situations. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Works under emergent/stressful situations and may be required to deal with concerned/ agitated patients and personnel. Exposed to ionizing radiation, but will be provided with all personal protective equipment required.
