##### **About the Role** ##### We are seeking a compassionate and motivated **Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)** to join our Total Rehab Care team. Under the direction and supervision of licensed Physical Therapists, you will provide hands-on treatment and follow-up care to patients across the lifespan--from newborns to geriatric populations. Your work will play a critical role in helping patients achieve their highest possible level of function and independence. ##### This position is ideal for a PTA who values teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional growth within a collaborative rehab environment. ##### **Key Responsibilities** * ##### Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Physical Therapist's established plan of care and Maryland licensure guidelines * ##### Administer therapeutic interventions, monitor patient status, and report changes requiring reassessment * ##### Collect objective data and document patient progress accurately and timely * ##### Assist with discharge planning, referrals, and coordination of continuing care * ##### Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, exercises, and equipment use * ##### Collaborate with Physical Therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary rehab team members * ##### Participate in case conferences and team meetings * ##### Supervise and mentor aides, students, observers, and volunteers as assigned ##### **Qualifications** ##### **Education** * ##### Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program * ##### Associate of Arts degree required ##### **Licensure & Certification** * ##### Active Maryland Physical Therapy Assistant license _or_ temporary Maryland license pending state board examination or reciprocity * ##### Current BLS/CPR certification required ##### **Experience** * ##### No prior clinical experience required beyond educational training * ##### Ability to perform all job functions independently after initial orientation period ##### **Skills & Abilities** * ##### Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills * ##### Excellent organizational and time-management abilities * ##### Effective verbal and written communication skills * ##### Ability to learn and use electronic medical records and point-of-care documentation systems * ##### Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and care needs ##### **Physical & Work Requirements** * ##### Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and assist patients throughout the workday * ##### May be required to lift or transfer patients and equipment * ##### Exposure to blood and bodily fluids and typical healthcare clinical environments ##### **Why Join Us?** * ##### Work with a supportive and experienced rehab team * ##### Serve patients across a wide range of ages and conditions * ##### Opportunities for mentorship and professional development * ##### Meaningful work that directly impacts patient recovery and quality of life ##### **Happy to Help** ##### At Meritus, we believe in a collaborative and caring work environment.
