Positions will be offered in New Haven, Middletown, Cheshire, and Guilford.Position HighlightsDepartment: Middlesex Health ENT and Facial Plastic SurgeryHours: Full-Time & Part-Time PositionsSummaryThe Referral Coordinator is responsible for facilitating referral requests and obtaining prior authorizations for testing from our providers and patients. She/he provides a superior level of service excellence to patients, physicians and staff in a caring and supportive manner. The Referral Coordinator protects patients’ rights by maintaining strict patient confidentiality of personal and financial information at all times.The Referral Coordinator maintains office operations by following established policies and procedures and contributes to the team effort by accomplishing results as needed.ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision:Complete referrals and diagnostic imaging orders in electronic medical records according to established procedures as requested by patients and approved by providers. Assist patients with making referral appointments.Complete and fax orders for diagnostic and routine testing as requested by the provider(s).Perform pre-certification and prior authorizations as needed.Track referral and imaging orders and comment over its status.Follow up to obtain the referral or imaging reports in a timely manner.Answer telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner within minimum rings. Create telephone encounters for all patient messages. Distribute as appropriate based on office protocols. Optimize patient satisfaction by obtaining pre-authorizations and scheduling appointments for patients in accordance with established procedures and within appropriate time frames.Manage assigned documents in electronic medical records. Attach each document to the appropriate patient record, name the document according to the established naming protocol and forward to the appropriate staff person to review and address.Manage requests for medical records following HIPAA compliant procedures.Monitor office supplies.
