Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Medical Director, the Clinical Dietitian in the Surgical Alliance practice provides dietetic evaluation and education to patients in the Bariatric Program, as well as patients in the Medical Weight Loss Program. This includes planning, delivering and directing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to outpatient surgical and non-surgical weight loss patients in accordance with allied health professional’s diagnoses, while complying with the requirements of regulatory agencies. The Dietitian functions as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate nutritional care plans for the metabolic and bariatric patient. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Under limited supervision: Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of bariatric patient nutritional status, screening for potential nutrition riskAssess providers orders and provide input/recommendations on nutrition support for patientsPlans, delivers and directs the nutritional care of bariatric patients in accordance with the physicians' diagnoses and requirements of regulatory agenciesEvaluates medical record to obtain objective data necessary for accurate assessment of nutritional needsEvaluates patient progress towards reaching established goals and ability to identify and adjust interventions to help the patient meet established goals Monitors assigned patients for compromised nutrition statusDevelops rapport with patient and family and uses effective education and counseling techniques to help patients reach established goalsProvide nutrition information seminars to patientsDevelops and delivers nutrition education materials as neededMinimum Qualifications2-3 year of clinical experience in field of nutrition/dieteticsBachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or related field. Active registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian (or have coursework and field work complete to be deemed Registered Dietitian Eligible, RDE, by CDR)Current licensure from the State of Connecticut as a Certified-Dietitian/Nutritionist.Preferred QualificationsProficient in Nutrition Care Process Must be proficient in nutrition support calculations for both enteral and parenteral nutrition Have knowledge in, or be able to learn/perform, Nutrition Focused Physical Examinations Familiar with computer based charting systemComprehensive Benefits OfferedCompetitive and affordable benefits packageShift DifferentialsContinuing Education assistanceTuition reimbursementStudent Loan relief through FiduciusQuick commute access from I-84, Route 9 and surrounding areas
