Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Medical Oncology

Oneida Health Cancer Care, a member of the Roswell Park Care Network, seeks an experienced full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team at the William G. Griffin Medical Oncology Center in Oneida. The center features 12 exam rooms and a 12-chair infusion floor, led by our experienced team, which includes one board-certified physician and two Nurse Practitioners. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can “hit the ground running” as this practice is positioned for growth. The role is Monday through Friday (40 hours), with consult-only call responsibilities for two weeks every eight weeks. Additional compensation is provided for on-call duties. The average number of patients per day is eight to eleven.
Compensation:
$115,000 to $145,000 per year based on experience

What You’ll be Great At:
Assessing and establishing a presumptive diagnosis and implementing treatment plans
Making accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record (OncoEMR)
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate, and prescribing appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidence-based practice
Prescribing, adjusting, or discontinuing medications or therapies as appropriate
Evaluating and reporting to the physician any circumstances or test results that present a significant risk to the patient's health or well-being
Performing procedures within the scope of practice of the Nurse Practitioner license.
Communicating appropriate information to physicians, patients, PCP, and referring staff
Instilling confidence in patients by acting as their advocate, providing safe, ethical care, and health education to the patient and family

Your Essential Qualifications:
Education:
Masters of Science in Nursing
License:
NY Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority
Experience
A minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting (ICU/IM/ED/Hospitalist) or two years of nurse practitioner experience is preferred (Oncology experience preferred)
Certification
Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioners (AOCNP) are preferred.
