Job Description

Oneida Health is currently seeking a
Per diem Behavioral Health Professional
to work in our cancer center office. The Behavioral Health Professional is an active member of the primary care treatment team. They are responsible for providing consultation to the primary care team and developing therapeutic relationships that include addressing the complex bio-psychosocial needs of the patient.  The scope of practice includes but is not limited to conducting behavioral health screenings, comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, advocacy, and resource identification and linkage.

Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of professional human services principles, methodology, and ethics and of human psychosocial development within the family, community, and culture.
Knowledge of the use of therapeutic relationship to foster patient involvement. Familiarity with brief therapy theories/techniques and therapeutic process. Understanding of techniques for facilitating client motivation to change behavior.
Knowledge of health and social issues impacting diverse clients and their well-being.
Knowledge of state and federal rules, regulations and requirements related to health care
Skills:
Skill in providing evidence based practices
Skill in crisis intervention.
Skill in client advocacy.
Skill in case management.
Abilities:
Ability to interact effectively as member of interdisciplinary health care team.
Ability to identify and utilize community resources.
Ability to communicate appropriately with diverse patient population.

Your Essential Qualifications:
Education:
Masters Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or other Human Services field (Required)
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in behavioral health and broad background with diverse patient populations
