Entity: Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital | Department: Pharmacy Inpatient | Work Hours: 7a-530p | Weekend Requirements: One | 1.0 FTE
**Job Summary:**
Provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance, and support for the registered pharmacist.
**Job Responsibilities:**
* Processes prescriptions and requests for refills from patients.
* Orders and maintains inventory.
* May communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients in person or via telephone as needed.
* Inputs privileged health information into computer system.
* May refill and maintain automated dispensing system.
* May perform IV fluid activities and IV admixture functions including IV chemotherapy.
* May perform service technician functions including operating rooms by distributing and maintaining room trays and anesthesia boxes.
* May perform narcotic technician functions.
* May perform medication reconciliation
* May perform meds-to-beds
**Skills and Attributes:**
* Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
* Works under minimal supervision.
* Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
**Position Requirements:**
**Work Experience**
* No experience required upon hire.
**Education**
* High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire.
**Licensure/Certification/Registration**
* Pharmacy Tech - Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND
* CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA) required within 6 months of employment in this position AND
* CPhT-Adv - Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Board of Pharmacy Technician Specialties (BPTS) preferred
