Position Summary:
The Retail Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care within the outpatient retail setting, ensuring safe, accurate, and patient-centered medication dispensing. This role supports the Pharmacist-in-Charge by reviewing prescriptions, verifying dosing and clinical appropriateness, counseling patients, and overseeing daily operational workflows. Working collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, providers, and other healthcare team members, the Retail Pharmacist promotes clear communication, medication safety, and consistent service quality. This position functions within a supportive, team-oriented environment and upholds all state and federal regulatory standards while maintaining medication integrity. In the absence of the Pharmacist-in-Charge, the Retail Pharmacist assumes responsibility for supervising retail pharmacy operations to ensure continuity of high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and dispense prescriptions in accordance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and established Trinity Health pharmacy policies.
Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, interactions, and appropriate storage to support safe and informed therapy.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within pharmacy systems, ensuring proper processing, labeling, and record retention.
Collaborate with prescribers and healthcare staff to resolve medication-related issues, clarify orders, and support continuity of care.
Monitor inventory levels, medication integrity, and workflow efficiency; assist with daily operational oversight and supervise staff when designated.
Promote a customer focused environment by providing courteous, responsive service and addressing patient questions or concerns with professionalism and clarity.
