AHA ACLS, PALS, (NRP within one (1) year of hire)Meet NM DOT physical requirementsMust obtain ICS 100,200,700,800PreferredQualifications:Four (4) years of EMT experienceCompletion of college level A&PNM State Special Skills Endorsement for Rapid Sequence InductionNational Registry CertificationDuties and Responsibilities:Working knowledge of emergency medical procedures and techniques at their respective certification levelKnowledge and utilization of NIMS guidelinesWorking knowledge of equipment and supplies employed in the emergency care of patients and victims of accidentsWorking knowledge of city and county geography and location of roads and streets, hospitals and nursing homesWorking knowledge of radio communications equipmentSkill in assessing a victim's condition and applying emergency medical care appropriatelyAbility to operate an ambulance safely under various weather conditionsAbility to deal with patients, their families, co-workers, other agencies and hospital staff courteously and professionally at all timesAbility to maintain effective working relationships with other employeesResponds to emergency calls as an ambulance crew member, performs necessary rescue work, administers necessary emergency medical care, and transports persons to appropriate medical facilitiesProvides paramedic level pre-hospital care as delineated in the NM Scope of PracticeMaintains ambulance, equipment, and supplies in proper working orderAssures ambulance quarters are clean, and ambulances are fully stocked and equipped and ready for immediate response. This includes substances that are accounted for on assigned shift and submits report daily in iOPSParticipates in a continuous training program in technical medical work and in ambulance service and operationActs as preceptor in new employee orientationMay participate in public relation events as assignedConducts tours of station as requestedAssures all assigned communication devices (including assigned phones) are accounted for and readily available for useCleans ambulances and stations on assigned shiftsKeeps current street and road patterns of the cities and county of assigned areasEach employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and StewardshipOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:Ability to lift fifty (50) kgMay be exposed to infectious and contagious diseasesRegularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseasesContact with patients under wide variety of circumstancesExposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)Subject to varying and unpredictable situationsHandles emergency or crisis situationsOccasionally subjected to irregular hoursOccasional pressure due to multiple calls and injuriesRequires judgment/action which could result in death of a patient
