Job Requirements Position SummaryThe Unit Ambassador is responsible for: patient related clerical activities, departmental clerical duties, computerized order entry procedures, and other unit activities, as assigned. The Unit Ambassador must be able to provide and understand the specific communication needs of patients, families, and visitors. The Unit Ambassador will collaborate with Leadership in developing and implementing the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Systems, Mission, Goals and Values.Minimum Requirements Education High School Graduate or GEDCompletion of Unit Secretary Course or equivalent healthcare experience to include Medical TerminologyExperience N/ALicense/Registration/Certifications Heart Saver Preferred RequirementsPreferred Education N/APreferred Experience 1-year acute careMonitor TechPreferred License/Registration/Certifications N/ACore Job ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates proper business and telephone etiquette and sound judgment in receiving and placing callsBasic Computer SkillsAssists patients by answering call lights in person, and helping with requests when able or notify nurse or PCA/CCA/EST in a timely and courteous mannerPass warm washcloths before meals, for quiet time or at bedtime to prepare patients for mealtimes and sleep hoursWelcomes and greets patients upon arrival to the unit and rounds on patients every 3 hoursDelivers meals/snacks, water and ice in a timely manner and assists patients with other comfort needsStraighten Rooms
- clear off bedside table; help keep rooms tidyKnowledgeable in use of and response to Facility Alert, Medical Alert, Medical Emergency SystemsProactive in addressing potential needs of patientsRemains committed to unit, department and division goalsAttends continuing education classes for improvement offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Reports risk management concerns to appropriate personAdheres to system wide standards of behaviorMaintain minimum level of supplies for unit and/or patient care areaAnswers questions and directs visitors/family in a courteous mannerOther duties as assigned
