Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Wound Care Physician to join our team and provide comprehensive wound management services for both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role is critical to improving patient outcomes and ensuring continuity of care within our rural nonprofit hospital.  The ideal candidate is committed to high-quality patient care, community engagement, and collaborative practice in a resource-conscious environment. General Description: Hospital employed Full-time outpatient practice opportunity with occasional inpatient consultation Work Week 4.5 days per week with one half day of administrative time for charting, callbacks etc. Key Responsibilities: Inpatient Care Evaluate, manage, and treat patients with acute and chronic wounds in the hospital setting, including those requiring advanced wound care and hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including nursing, surgery, infectious disease, vascular, and case management—to develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. Perform and oversee bedside and procedural interventions such as wound debridement, advanced dressing applications, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and coordination of inpatient HBO treatments when indicated. Monitor wound healing progress, patient response to HBO therapy, and overall clinical outcomes, adjusting care plans as needed to optimize healing and reduce complications. Outpatient Care Conduct outpatient wound care and hyperbaric medicine clinics for patients transitioning from inpatient care as well as community referrals. Assess patient eligibility for HBO therapy and manage treatment plans in accordance with clinical indications and safety protocols. Provide education to patients and caregivers on wound prevention, HBO therapy expectations, and home care strategies to support continued healing. Coordinate follow-up visits, referrals, and ongoing HBO treatment schedules to ensure continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Additional Duties: Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care. Serve as a resource for staff education on best practices in wound management. Work Environment: Small rural hospital setting with close-knit team dynamics. KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: Medical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of adult medicine, human anatomy, and organ systems. Diagnostic Skills: Ability to analyze complex medical data to make accurate diagnoses. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and other medical professionals. Problem-Solving: Critical thinking skills to solve complex diagnostic problems and manage multiple health conditions simultaneously. Professionalism: Adherence to ethical standards and commitment to lifelong learning to stay updated on medical advancements. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program. Board Certified or Board Eligible preferred but not required. Completion of a Fellowship and/or Certification in Wound Care preferred. Eligible for medical licensure in the state of New Mexico. Commitment to serving a rural, underserved population. Strong communication skills and dedication to patient-centered care. Experience in wound care management, including advanced therapies and procedures. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to serving rural populations. ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
