Job Description
P olysomnographer (RPSGT or RST), under the general supervision of the Sleep Lab Coordinator or designee, displays proficiency and performs at a level of excellence all Sleep Diagnostic procedures and other related procedures in accordance with the guidelines established by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and policies and procedures of Tampa General Hospital. Duties may include patient education, monitoring multiple physiological data, and recognize the need for medical intervention if patient safety is at risk. They must be able to work independently and be self- motivated. Polysomnographer is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. Work is primarily performed in patient care areas, both in-patient and outpatient, on patients of all ages. Extensive interaction with patients, staff, physicians, family members and visitors. Moving of equipment and supplies, lifting bending stooping and exposure to body fluids is involved. This position has been evaluated as a Level 1 in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
QUALIFICATIONS:
RPSGT/RST completion of accredited program and national exam. Active credential for RPSGT or RST. 3-year progressive hospital experience. Must have completed all requirements for the level of Registered Polysomnographer Technologist.
