You must be a Northeastern Student to be considered.Job ProfileSummaryThis role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care servicesin accordance withphysician orders.In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Support duties:Providesbasic care services topatients, butdoes not have an RN or LPN license. Positions in this nursing support work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on their unit.A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience.This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs.An experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and requiring vocational or technical education.Works under moderate supervision, works through problems of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.Job OverviewThe Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision ofaprofessional nurse and collaborates to meet the needs of the patient within the scope of the role.This roleassistsin direct patient care,providesenvironmental support,andfacilitatespatient safety on designatedunitand other units as needed.Successfully completesandmaintainscompetencies in role specific skills.Providesan environment supportive of the patient and family centered model of care.Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications:1.High school diploma or equivalent.2.Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification.Preferred Qualifications:1.Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).2.Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited Nursing program.3.One(1) year of related experience as aNursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT).4.Acute care experience.Duties and Responsibilities:Theduties and responsibilities listedbeloware intended to describe the general nature of workandare not intended to be an all-inclusive list.Other dutiesand responsibilitiesmay be assigned.1.Assists the professional registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient centered careappropriate tothe developmental age of the patient population. Performs delegated tasks and communicates all findings/concerns to the professional nurse.2.Provides orassistspatients with activities of daily living in a safe,efficientand respectful manner.Assistswith patient care procedures as directed by the nurse, using proper bodymechanicsand ensuring patient dignity.3.Greets patients, families,visitorsand other staffaccording to service standards.Responds to patient and family requests promptly, seeking nurse’s supervision as needed.4.Collects, records, and communicates the patient’s clinical data to the assigned nursein a timely manner.5.Prepares room for admission/transfer/discharge, assuringstandardizedequipment is ready for use.6.Transports oraccompaniespatients as necessary to other areas of the hospital in an efficient, safe, and respectful manner.Acts as a sitter as requested by the nurse, adhering to the sitter guidelines, to ensure patient safety at all times.7.Providescomfort measures such as positioning, changing linen, back rubs, etc. to patients in an efficient, safe, and respectful manner.8.Promotes patient activity byassistingwith mobility and range of motion exercises as assigned9.Sets up for procedures as requested by nursing/medical staff.10.Cleans and discards used equipment and supplies following procedures.11.Collects specimens and performs specimen testing, whilemaintainingStandard Precautions; prepares specimens for the lab.12.Responsible for care of biomedical equipment, checking par levels and working order forblood pressurecuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter cables, etc. Sends malfunctioning equipment to Medical Engineering per established procedure.13.Cleans wounds and applies DSD after wound is assessed by nurse.14.Performs 12 lead EKG.15.Connects monitoring equipment topatientsunder the direction of the nurse.15.Cares for patient belongingsand completes belongings list.16.Primes intravenous tubing with solutioncontainingno medication.18.Performs and documents patient’s admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by the nurse.19.Answers call lights and seeksappropriate personnel/action.Performs hourly rounding per established guidelines.Physical Requirements:1.Lifting upto 30-35lbsand turning patients.Prolonged standing and walking.Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.2. Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation for performingprocedurestooperatecomputer keyboard.3.Requires ability to see computer screen and reports.Skills & Abilities:1. Abilitytoread, write, andcomprehendmedical terminology.2. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.3. Abilityto work with detailed, confidential material.4.
