Job ProfileSummaryThis role focuses on performing work related to research and development of new products, innovation, and improvement of products and processes.  In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Research Programs and Projects duties: Supports the development of new products and innovation.  Includes Clinical roles focused on research projects.  Positions in this family perform basic, translational, and/or clinical research towards solving a specific problem for an entity or community. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs.  The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education.   An experienced level role that applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.   Works independently with general supervision, problems faced are difficult but typically not complex, and may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.Job OverviewUnder the supervision and direction of thePrincipalinvestigator, this position conducts research activities which include, but are not limited to,reviewingand summarizingliterature,testing,data preparation and analysis, andassistingwith the preparation of manuscripts and presentations.Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications:1.Bachelor’sdegree inan EducationalRelated Program, relevant to research.2. Two (2) years of research experience.Preferred Qualifications:1.Master’sdegree in a quantitative or scientific area of study.2. Three (3) years of academic, clinical, or scientific research in a medical setting.Duties and Responsibilities:Theduties and responsibilities listedbeloware intended to describe the general nature of workandare not intended to be an all-inclusive list.Other dutiesand responsibilitiesmay be assigned.1.Facilitatesdata collection andensuringthat all data is collected ina timelyfashion, which includesidentifyingmissing data and implementing data checks, as well as generation of reports.2.Performs tasks which may require familiarity with a variety of protocols,techniquesand equipment.3.Maintainsand updates records, reports and files asrequired.4.Assists with preparation of abstracts, presentations, and publications as needed.5.Attends meetings asrequired, may be asked to take minutes.6.Performsliterature searcheseither relevantto the project(s), elsein pursuit of new techniques/ideas to expand relevant basic knowledge.7.Schedulesmeetings or study visits, as well as calendar maintenance. Logs work performed.8.Assistswith the collection, storage, and shipping of biological samples.9.Maintainsandupdatesrecordsin accordance withIRB/WIRB and sponsor requirements.10.Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working group’s achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.11.Providesday-to-day guidance in conducting experiments to lower-level researchers.12.Assistswith planning specific research procedures; develops and troubleshoots new techniques, which have been written up in the literature; proposes alternative experimental procedures to the principal investigator.13.Attendsconferences and courses relevant to researchtopic.14.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.Physical Requirements:1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.Skills & Abilities:1.Excellent written and oral communication skills.2. Strong computer skills, includingproficiencywith MS Office (Word,Exceland Power Point), and familiarity with databases (e.g., experience using MS Access).3. Computer programming, database, and statistical analysis skills.4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle competing demands in order to meet project timelines.5. Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment.6.Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities as needed.7.
