REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS · High school diploma or equivalency · Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing · Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and all health care professionals and TVHC staff. · Basic knowledge in computer use; including skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications · Excellent organizational skills · Ability to maintain and follow guidelines, set standards of practice in quality patient care, and state, federal, and facility required infection control practices · BLS certification within 3 months of hire PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Current Idaho CAN, EMT, LPN, RN, or Medical Assistant Licensure/Certification · Experience working in a healthcare environment · Additional languages – Spanish Preferred ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS · Ability to walk and/or stand 70% of each shift · Ability to assist in lifting patients over 100lbs occasionally and frequently lifting files and other equipment up to 25lbs · Ability to frequently stoop or crouch for short periods of time · Ability to reach below, at, or above shoulder level on a regular basis · Manual dexterity, ability to concentrate, and good eye-hand coordination required · Vision requiring near and far acuity, depth perception, and an ability to adjust focus and maintain a good field of vision is required for patient observation and documentation · Mental, Physical, and emotional abilities to respond to emergency situations · Written and spoken communication skills require the ability to speak, hear and see · Critical thinking and good judgment needed to be able to follow Federal, State and hospital policies and procedures
The Medical Assistant functions as the focal communication source and as an integral part of the nursing care team under the supervision of a Specialty Clinic Navigator. The Medical Assistant will be assigned to a primary team but remain flexible to assist the needs of the clinic. The medical assistant greets patients in a courteous and professional manner, escorts them to the appropriate exam room and meets patient/customer service standards. This role completes and documents all clinic lab tests per Provider’s order and clinic lab policy, triages, answers phone messages, and makes prescription calls for patients as directed by Provider.
Job Description: · Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner and escorts them to the appropriate exam room in a timely manner. Maintains adequate patient flow for scheduled and walk-in appointments. · Completes, documents and logs all clinic lab tests per provider’s order and clinic lab policy. · Triages, answer phone calls, and arranges for all patient diagnostic testing and follow-up appointments. · Makes prescription calls for patients as directed by provider or nurse navigator. · Performs clinic health care services per scope of licensure and training and as directed by the clinic providers or nurse navigator. · Uses electronic medical record software completely and accurately. · Assures cleanliness of all exam rooms after each patient visit. · Assists patients with completion of medical forms and obtaining provider signature. Assures all medical consents are signed and witnessed. · Receives, disburses, and files all notes, diagnostic results and lab reports in conjunction with H.I.M. · Monitors all clinic inventory recording low supply inventories for Materials Management. · Stocks and maintains patient exam rooms daily, also checking for expiration dates. · Maintains sterilization of reusable medical equipment daily. · Assists with any other duties as assigned.
