Job Summary

Manages the daily operations of the Coal Miner's Clinic and Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation services.

As a Director at Owensboro Health, you provide operational and strategic oversight for designated departments or service areas. You champion our Safety Culture and foster continuous improvement, Target Zero performance, and promote a just culture. You translate organizational goals into actionable plans, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You are accountable for resource stewardship and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and delivery of services.

  • Maintains knowledge of Advanced Pulmonary Disease and promotes best practice, rehabilitation, sharing knowledge with Health and Human Services (HHS)/Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), providers, and team members.

  • Researches equipment and technology related to pulmonary disease.

  • Maintains relationships with local coal mining and occupational risk employers.

  • Educates and communicates with current and prior coal miners and other at-risk occupations regarding services.

  • Responsible for the scientific, technical, and program aspects of the grant funding for the clinic.

  • Ensures compliance with the financial and administrative aspects of fulfilling the award.

  • Gives recognition to HHS for grant funding and services available through media.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Decision Making - Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.

  • Communication – Clearly communicates goals, expectations, and updates the team using active listening and promoting open communication channels.

  • Conflict Resolution - Identifies and addresses conflicts within the team, facilitating constructive dialogue, and finding solutions to disagreements.

  • Change Management - Leads and adapts to organizational changes, communicating effectively during transitions, and engages the team in the process.

  • Leadership Development – Actively engages in the Leadership Development Program by enrolling in the program within the first 6 months of employment and completing the program within the first 2 years of employment.

  • Workforce Safety Statement - Prioritizes the physical and psychological safety of the workforce as a foundational element of high-reliability care. Ensure goals are established with effective monitoring and reporting to improve workforce safety and wellbeing. Promotes safe staffing, supports resilience, and ensures that every team member has the tools, training, and environment needed to perform at their best.

Position Requirements:

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience required

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or a healthcare related field required upon hire

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire OR

  • RESP - If Bachelor's degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy, Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Kentucky and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required upon hire
