RN - Preadmission Department

The Pre-Admission Nurse is to be a clinically competent Registered Nurse.# By utilizing the nursing process of assessment of the individual patient and procedure, the Pre-Admission Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing care for the pre-operative patient through the nursing process.# Effectively interacts with the patient, family and significant others and other health team members, while maintaining the standards of professional nursing.# Evaluates the educational needs and learning opportunities for all pre-operative patients.# Coordinates patient education activities to meet assessed needs of the patient prior to surgery.# Addresses the psychosocial and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.# Communicates with physicians as needed about the patient#s diagnosis and condition.# Assists with patient follow-up call program.# Position requires 4,8 or 10 hour shifts to cover department Monday - Friday 07:00 - 17:00. Qualifications: # # Graduate from an accredited school or college of nursing required. # Current New Mexico or compact license as a Registered Nurse required. # BCLS, ACLS, PALS required. # Minimum of five years of recent experience in Surgery required. # Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. #
